The East Coast Park swimming lagoon

The East Coast Park is a coastal park located at the eastern end of Singapore that stretches from Tanjong Rhu to Bedok. The first phase of the park’s development began in 1972 in tandem with the land reclamation works along the coastline. In 1974, the government announced plans to develop East Coast Park into a beach resort complete with holiday chalets, sports, recreational and dining facilities. The following year, six sites at the park were leased out to private and public developers for the construction of an indoor recreational complex, a tennis complex, a bicycle rental kiosk, a marina for yachting and sailing activities, a campsite, and an aquarium with a crocodile pool. In 1976, a swimming lagoon the size of 40 Olympic-sized pools that could accommodate up to 6,000 people was completed at the park. The East Coast Park is now a popular coastal park with a wide range of sports, recreational and dining facilities.
