Gift of Mdm. Wendy Hitchell-Jones neé Wendy Toh Kim Kee (1953 – 2002)
This is a magnifying glass made of gilt silver and adorned with agate stones and a jade handle.The artefact was donated by Mdm. Wendy Toh Kim Kee whose father, Mr. Toh Chye Sim, was a junk captain who sailed between Burma and Malaya. The artefact initially belonged to Mr. Toh’s first wife, who was likely a Straits Chinese from Malaya.
