Pair of brown shoes (from Isetan)

This is a brown pair of shoes from Isetan department store. When Isetan first opened at Havelock Road in January 1972, it was also the first overseas venture of the Japanese department store. The popularity of Japanese products among the local middle class and the presence of a sizeable Japanese community in Singapore led to the opening of other Isetan branches and other Japanese department stores in second half of the 20th century.
