This brass mask depicts the face of Gauri, the other name of Parvati. The headgear and ear ornaments are in the Marathi style. Strong feminine features are shown through her almond-shaped eyes and delicate lips.Parvati is the mother of Lord Ganesha and she is worshipped during the Ganesh Chaturthi or festivel of Ganesha in several parts of India. She is associated with fertility and prosperity, and women offer her worship for the longevity of their husbands.
