This box was used to hold a very rare jewellery tool set that includes moulds, drills, blocks and other instruments used in the making of Peranakan jewellery. The tools in this set were used to fashion a wide range of jewellery pieces such as brooch sets, pendants, applique motifs for belts, handkerchiefs, kerosang, headdresses, anklets, bracelets and moulds for amulets, keyholders, crucifixes and clogs. The Peranakan Chinese in Singapore wore jewellery that was a fusion of Chinese, Malay, Indian and European motifs.
