Teapots were generally used during weddings for the serving of 'ayer mata kuching' or longan tea during the tea ceremony and other meals. In general, teapots were either large cylindrical teapots that were used for serving to large numbers of guests. Small globular teapots like this piece were often used in pairs during the wedding tea ceremony when the bride and groom would serve tea to the elders.
