The interior of the Novotel Orchid Inn at Dunearn Road

Owned by the Hong Leong Group’s City Developments, the Orchid Inn hotel was officially opened in July 1970. With its range of family maisonettes and penthouse suites, it was targeted at expatriates looking for “homely” abodes while working in Singapore. Following the conclusion of a management agreement with French hospitality group Novotel, the hotel was renamed the Novotel Orchid Inn in August 1982. It was rebranded again in 1998 as the Copthorne Orchid Hotel after City Developments acquired the Copthorne chain of hotels in Europe in 1995. Plans to redevelop the site for a condominium project were announced in 2005.
