The pair of zuo dou are traditional Chinese architectural blocks that are either used to support a 'liang' (beam) or a 'lin' (purlin, a structural member). This pair of traditional Chinese architectural structures are supposed to have come from buildings (low-rise shophouses or warehouses) in the old Clarke Quay area facing the Singapore river.
