This is a water-colour painting of two Malay men watching their roosters in a cockfight taking place in Kampong Ubi. Cockfighting is a blood sport in which roosters, known as gamecocks, are placed in an enclosed space to fight. Cockfights are held for gambling and/or entertainment purposes. It is common throughout the world and has existed for centuries.
