Haw Par Villa exhibit

Sculptures and statues that portray themes from Chinese folk life and tradition, as seen in this postcard, were a mainstay at Haw Par Villa. Originally called Tiger Balm Gardens, Haw Par Villa was built on Pasir Panjang Road by Aw Boon Haw in 1937. A prominent businessman and philanthropist, Aw had set up the gardens with the intention of educating the public about Chinese culture. Aw was also synonymous with Tiger Balm, the renowned product that he and his younger brother, Aw Boon Par, successfully marketed in Singapore and around the region.
