This large wedding nape ornament or necklace has gold sheathing and decorated with low relief repousse. It is part of a set of wedding jewellery and headdress worn by a Minangkabau bride and which is also worn during formal occasions. Considered as 'pusako' or heirloom jewellery and owned by the matrilineage, they may be borrowed for ceremonial occassions by family members of the same lineage and must always be returned after use.
