Post-WWII photographic studios in Singapore produced greeting cards like the one seen here—the sender’s photograph is printed with illustrations and greetings, a style reminiscent of the photographic ‘cartes-de-visite’, which were immensely popular during the late 19th century. Often, the choice of the accompanying design reflected the personality of the sender, who penned personal greetings to a friend or relative on the back of the card.
