Accounts of a law suit

These are the accounts of an unspecified law suit issued on 5 April 1860. This document notes that a sum of $2400 was the amount on which the judgement was given, and that a further $118.30 was the amount of the plaintiff's costs taxed as between party to party. It is part of a collection of legal documents from the 19th and early 20th centuries which provides a glimpse into the work of the notable personalities who left their mark on Singapore’s legal history, and the economic and other transactions undertaken by ordinary immigrants in 19th century Singapore that tell stories of misfortune and indebtedness which would otherwise have disappeared from history.
