This maquette (small-scale model) titled ‘Pedas Pedas’ was created by artist Kumari Nahappan to test the technical limits of the casting processes that were available in Southeast Asia (work was casted in Thailand). It was the first time that the artist was able to establish the technical feasibility of casting the stem portion of the sculpture. The final full-scale version of the sculpture at the National Museum of Singapore green underwent further alterations as a result of the lessons learned from casting this small-scale model.
