Membership certificate of the Tsung Peh Society, and entry permit of Hung Society

The membership certificate of the Tsung Peh society is distinguishable by its ornate corners. Esoteric forms in the four triangles are shown in the top and bottom left corners of the certificate, however, their meaning was strictly confined to members of the society. The entry permit of the Hung Society allowed the owner of the permit to attend unspecified activities. These secret society paraphernalia form part of the William Stirling Collection. William George Stirling was the Assistant Protector of Chinese in Singapore from 1921 to 1931.
