This pair of bottle vases with tall necks and hanging ornament motifs are painted with cobalt-blue pigments. Each bottle is decorated with floral scrolls, plantain leaves and a stylised 'ruyi' motif, an auspicious symbol for good fortune, which means 'you get everything you wish for'. The ornamentations on the bottles suggest that they were most likely made for export.
