This Qur’an folio page has five lines written in large fine maghribi script in brown ink on pink paper. Its peachy pink colour suggests that it may have been dyed in Jativa, a town south of Valencia. The use of dyed paper and the high quality of the writing indicates that this luxurious Qur’an was probably made for an official or member of one of the princely families of Granada or Valencia. Most manuscripts in Spain are written on vellum, thus the use of paper for this fine Qur'an is unusual.
