Decorated in predominantly red enamels, this dish is known as a ‘Ming red’ ware or Ming merah in Indonesian, which were more highly prized than the blue and white dishes. This dish was probably used in ceremonies, such as weddings, in Indonesia. Polychrome dishes like this were also exported to Japan.
