A medallion of floral motifs sits in the centrefield which is decorated with vases of flowers and bouquets. Its borders are filled with laces, bows and floral motifs. Such designs reflect European influence. These new patterns were particularly attractive to younger textile-makers who were possibly more open to new ideas. As the new motifs lay outside of the traditional system of designs, they could be made and worn by anyone without trespassing social boundaries.
