This painting shows a standing Murugan with an unidentifiable deity. It demonstrates the absorption of Hindu deities into Buddhism. Murugan worship at Kadirgama, a sacred shrine in Sri Lanka, is very popular with Hindus, Buddhist and Muslims worshippers alike. The painting has been done using waterbased colours on wood.
