This ornament features the motif of Ganesha, the son of Siva, who has a human body and an elephant head, and is worshipped as the god of wisdom. Many ornaments of this period incorporated motifs from the Hindu and Buddhist religions. The level of technical sophistication reached its peak at this time when a combination of wax casting, engraving and other techniques produced objects with very fine details.
