This ornament features elaborate spirals and could have been worn at the ear. Both men and women wore ear ornaments, and they had their earlobes pierced. It has also been suggested that such an ornament with a gap in its loop could have been used to hold cords around the waist or placed in coiffures. Besides personal adornment, gold was also used to make religious items during this period.
