This piece of silk thread embroidery uses the technique of threading to create various decorative motifs. Colourful ‘seed beads’ or ‘Rocaille’ beads are used to create colourful floral motifs on the piece. There are also motifs of sea creatures which symbolise abundance. On one length of the piece is a string of tassels which further enhances the appearance of the embroidery. Such panels were traditionally used as table covers, panels for picture frames, ornamental hangings, pillow and bolster cases.
