This piece of textile is woven by the supplementary weft technique, where horizontal threads are woven into the textile to create patterns on top of the ground weave. The widest band featuring elongated triangles represents the male, while designs of rhomb shapes on the other end would represent the female. Unlike Eastern Batak where headcloths often feature three distinctive panels woven separately, this piece of textile is woven as a single piece.
