This standing image of four-armed Ganesha carries an axe (parashu) and a noose (pasha) in his upper arms, and a sweetmeat and a broken tusk in his lower. As a lover of sweetmeats, he is featured here as pot-bellied and squat. The elephant head and big ears can be markedly noticed. Traditionally, Ganesha is worshipped in temples and homes of Hindu devotees to ward off evil. He is also the first deity to be offered prayers before embarking upon any ceremonies such as marriage or fire sacrifice. During Deepavali, Ganesha along with Lakshmi are worshipped for prosperity and spiritual power.
