Devotional book

The cover of this devotional book has brown morocco binding decorated with stamped medallion and borders. The book from China is written in sini script developed by Chinese Muslim calligraphers. Sini script, with their shallow downwards strokes could be considered as a variation of the muhaqqaq script. China has a long history with Islam as Islam was first introduced to China in the mid 7th century during the cosmopolitan Tang dynasty (618-906). Calligraphy has always been considered the noblest and most featured art in the world of Islam as it transmits the Divine Revelations from God. This book illustrates how different scripts evolved in the different regions of the Islamic world.
