This white-glazed conical bowl has an inverted rim and stylized floral motifs incised on the interior. A band of lotus petal panels is incised around the outer walls. This bowl may have been based on a celadon prototype from the Longquan kilns in China, while the freely incised style of the design is possibly influenced by earlier Chinese whiteware such as Ding and ‘qingbai’ ware. White-glazed wares were used in Buddhist rituals during the Ly (1009-1225) and Tran (1225-1400) dynasties.
