This piece belongs to a pair of covered blue-and-white teacups with silver saucer and sheathing. The blue-and-white porcelain was made in China, probably in Jingdezhen, China during the early Republican period (1911-1930). The silver saucer, sheathing and appliqué appears to have been added locally (in Malaya) by Chinese silversmiths. This pair of teacups come from a Peranakan family from Setiawan, Perak and was used in the wedding tea ceremony.
