This bed hanging is elaborately embroidered in red, green, lavender and yellow silk with gold and coloured threads. The top panel has motifs of birds, pheasant. phoenix, deer, lantern, fingered citron, potted flowers and joss-stick burner. The motifs are repeated in the bottom panel and also includes two lions playing with balls.Bed hangings such these along with other auspicious symbols and decorations were part of the ensemble that adorned the traditional Peranakan wedding bed.
