This vessel in the form of a scaly animal has a long neck and a large tapering tail. The open mouth suggests that it could have been used as a water vessel. This piece appears to have been extensively restored. It is made in the style of zoomorphic figurines from Si Satchanalai in north-central Thailand. Si Satchanalai was a city under the kingdom of Sukhothai established in the mid-thirteenth century, and was one of the largest ceramic producing centres in Southeast Asia at this time.
