This is a short-sleeved, knee-length cheongsam with embroidered flowers, grasshoppers, and butterflies. The collar, sleeves, and flap on the right bodice are lined with brown piping.A figure-hugging piece, it was believed to be influenced by the nipped-in waist style of the 1950s introduced by the West. By then, the cheongsam was so popular that most women owned one, although there were differences in fabric and style. This type of cheongsam was usually worn for formal occasions or parties right up to the 1960s.
