This is a Chinese-style metal comb, in the shape of a semicircle, decorated by engravings of flowers and leaves, which symbolise fertility and vitality. It was worn on the hair for decorative purposes and this was probably designed to be worn by women of fine birth or women from an elite community. The design used points at the presence of Chinese influence on island Southeast Asian jewellery and accessories.
