'Parker' fountain pen

Students started using fountain pens when they reached Standard III (10 years old). The fountain pen and pencil replaced the dip pen, which required frequent refilling from an inkwell. Most of the stationery and teaching aids such as maps used in schools were ordered from Shanghai and England, as local stores did not stock such materials.
