This finely woven tobacco box is made of rattan leaves. In Southeast Asia, the main materials used in weaving comes from the region's abundant vegetation. Common fibres such bamboo, rattan, bark, palm leaf and pandanus, which is more commonly known as pandan leaves or 'mengkuang', are skilfully turned into various household receptacles such as this tobacco box.
