Collection of
National Loyalty Week was held in the first week of December 1959. It was organised with the purpose of fostering a sense of loyalty to the newly-formed state of Singapore among its diverse ethnic groups. The event saw the inauguration of key national symbols including the state flag, the national anthem, the state crest and the installation of the first President, Yusof Ishak.
