This type of earrings is favoured by the inland people like the Kenyah, Kayan, Kelabit and Punan. These earrings were worn in the practice of stretching their ear-lobes until they reach shoulder length which is considered a feature of beauty. The ear-lobes are stretched by adding more and more earrings. Many of the earring are simple and undecorated while some may have more intricate designs or are in simple form of a dragon’s head at each end of the loop.
