This practice sheet is known in Turkish as 'karalama noqtali'. It serves as a guide to the correct proportions for two cursive scripts - 'thulth' (the bigger script) and 'naskh'. The diamond-shaped dot which is the unit of measurement is formed by pressing the reed pen diagonally on the paper. These dots guide the calligrapher while writing.
