This celadon offering dish has a very unique decoration and shape. It is painted with enamel decorations of Buddhist emblems and flower sprigs on the steep scalloped well with phoenix and peonies at the centre and around exterior, on four ruyi-headed feet. The peony and phoenix motif is by far the most predominant design in Straits Chinese ceramic. Auspicious Buddhist emblems are popular in ceramics with ceremonial and religious uses.
