Cathay Cinema was a lavish, air-conditioned 1,300-seater that resided in the Cathay Building, Singapore’s first high-rise building when it was built in 1939. Known as a “picture palace”, the cinema offered its patrons a taste of luxury with its opulent interior and decor.
