This kettle has an open-work scrolling fringe on the spout and the body is decorated with bands of stylised triangular bamboo shoot (pucuk rebung) motif. Kettles such as this were used to serve drinking water during weddings or festivals. It may have also been used to store water for washing the right hand before and after eating.
