This woodblock signifies great prosperity and luck for the New Year. The image depicts an official deity holding a 'ruyi' and riding a giant rooster. Ruyi, literally means 'having everything you wish for' in the Chinese language. It was a popular motif that was incorporated into the Vietnamese ceramic tradition.
