This kettle has an open-work scrolling fringe on the spout and the body is decorated with bands of stylised triangular bamboo shoot (pucuk rebung) motif. The fringe that runs midway around its globular body is scalloped.Kettles such as this were used to serve drinking water during weddings or festivals. It may have also been used to store water for washing the right hand after eating.
