In the 1960s and 1970s, German-made electrical items were widely favoured for their stylish designs, technological finesse and clean metallic finish. Popular items included German-made fans and British- made Kenwood mixers. The Kenwood Chef, a British-manufactured electric food processor, was in fact redesigned in 1960 by Kenneth Grange, who was inspired by the design philosophy of German firm Braun that products should be functional, elegant and simple, using only neutral colours.
