Cavanagh Bridge, Battery Road and Hotel de l'Europe

Built by convict labourers in 1869, Cavenagh Bridge functioned as a much needed link between government offices in Empress Place and Commercial Square, or Raffles Place. Battery Road, on the other hand, connected Raffles Place with Fullerton Square, and was one of the main stretch of roads that were regularly used by carriages, bullock carts and rickshaws alike. Established in the 1860s, Hotel de l'Europe was one of the finest hotels in the colony at that time.
