Gold ‘pending’, richly decorated in repoussé work and valuable gemstones were worn by the nobility or high-ranking individuals.Various metalworking techniques were used to produce a variety of aesthetic effects on metal objects as demonstrated in this ‘pending’. These techniques include repoussé, chasing, niello, wire filigree and faceted granulation.
