This headband is made of closely-plaited thin strips of black and cream coloured rattan patterns. It has a tuft of rattan fringe all the way round. These are worn by the Kayan and Kenyah girls of Sarawak.Plaiting with strands of contrasting colours to form designs is a distinct and well developed decorative technique in Borneo.
