This panel is elaborately embroidered with gold and coloured silk threads. It is decorated with the three stellar gods, the eight Daoist immortals and lions, a protective symbol. This large and impressive embroidered panel would have been used for a decoration at a birthday celebration, particularly of a senior member of the family. The ‘shou’ character means longevity and is a reference to Shou Lau, the Daoist god of longevity.
