This piece was produced using a carved woodblocks, probably in several sections for two colours plus black outlines. The artist, Nguyen Thu was born 12 December 1930 in Bac Thai, Hanoi, and was trained at the Indochina Fine Arts College during the period 1957-1962.Woodblock printing is thought to have been introduced from China as early as the Ly dynasty (1010-1225).
