Born in Singapore 1959, Simryn Gill grew up in Malaysia, studied in India and the UK before currently residing in Australia. Her works examine how we acquire a sense of place and how our experience of the present is influenced by both personal and cultural histories. Books and narratives are recurrent motifs in her work. They are symbolic of the way through which we understand and describe the world around us.
