This long rectangular box is made from a single piece of wood that has been split into two – one piece for the body and the other the cover – so the wood grain forms a continuum. The sides of the box are mounted with brass sheets while the corners have similar mounts featuring a cloud-scroll pattern. The pull on the front are also shaped as cloud-heads. This box is noted for its exquisite design and meticulous workmanship. Its function is to store important and large-sized scroll of painting or calligraphy.
